Person Specification
Experience (essential):
- Must have 3 year + experience working within General Practice
- Must have working experience with EMIS clinical system
- Knowledge of Data Protection and understanding the requirement to maintain confidentiality Ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality
- Knowledge of computer packages: Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Desirable:
- Experience working as a Medical Secretary
Job Responsibilities
- To be responsible for undertaking a wide range of secretarial and administrative duties and the provision of administrative support to the multidisciplinary team
- Processing referrals using the electronic referral system (ERS) and letters as requested
- Taking meeting minutes and sharing with relevant team.
- Typing letters, reports and associated documentation as required
- Managing all enquires in an effective manner and Managing all administrative queries as necessary
- Actioning all incoming email
- Liaising with external agencies such as hospitals and community services, ensuring referrals are processed efficiently
- Maintaining an accurate referrals database
- Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patients’ healthcare records
- Inputting data into the patients’ healthcare records as necessary
- Carrying out system searches as requested
- Processing requests for information i.e., SAR, insurance/solicitors letters and DVLA forms
- The post holder will take instruction on a day to day basis from the Practice manager. However, the post-holder is expected to be self-directed and self-motivated using their own initiative and requiring minimum input from the Practice Manager. The Post-holder’s work is formally reviewed by annual appraisal
- Maintaining a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times
- Supporting all clinical staff with general administrative tasks as requested
- The post-holder must be proactive in forward planning, identifying and implementing improvements within and beyond their key result areas, anticipating and communicating future internal and external requirements.
