What is an Extended Access Service?

GP Practices are generally open between 8am and 6:30pm.

Our service provides additional appointments outside of normal hours. We are open between 6:30pm and 8:30pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on Saturdays and 9am to 1pm on Sundays.

Appointments are available at a range of sites across the London Borough of Hillingdon.

Who can I see?

The service provides a range of appointments with Doctors, Nurses, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Healthcare Assistants, Phlebotomists, Pharmacists, and others. Different clinicians may be available at different times during the week.

How can I get an appointment?

Your GP practice is able to book you an appointment. Please ask your practice at the time of booking if you wish to be seen outside of normal hours.

This service is for all patients registered with a GP practice in Hillingdon.

  • Acute Adult/Child Asthma Review
  • Diabetic Medication Review
  • Pill Checks
  • General Medication Reviews
  • Test Requests
  • Refferals
  • Sick Note/ Fit Note

Not available:

  • Antenatal 6 Week Checks

Nurse

Available:

  • Asthma Review
  • Blood Pressure Check
  • Hormone Replacement Therapy Review
  • Diabetic Foot Checks
  • Cervical Smears
  • Pill Checks
  • B12/ Vitamin D/ Prostap/ depo (patient must bring injection from practice)
  • Post Op Wound Care (patient must bring dressings from practice)
  • non-diabetic hyperglycaemia

Not available:

  • COPD Reviews
  • Spirometry
  • Doppler

First Contact Physiotherapist (FCP)

Available:

  • Exercise Prescription
  • Any new/recent onset bone, muscles or nerve pain or injury
  • Referral for further care/assessment if needed

Not available:

  • Patients under the age of 16
  • Patients under the care of Rheumatology
  • Patients already assessed by GP and currently under the care of community
  • Physiotherapy for the same issue

Dietician

Available:

  • Anyone diagnosed with a medical condition like diabetes, high blood
  • pressure, cardiovascular disease, coeliac disease
  • Weight regain following a spell of ill-health/medical condition
  • Assessment and help in losing weight in a safe and sensible way
  • Assessment and help with digestive problems
  • Lipid Management

Not available:

  • Patients under the age of 8

Pharmacist

Available:

  • Patients over 18 years old medication review
  • Blood Pressure and Hypertension Management
  • Asthma Review
  • Non-diabetic hyperglycaemia
  • NHS Health Check
  • Liquid Management

Not available:

  • Children under 18 years of age

Phlebotomist

Available:

  • Blood Tests for patients aged 16+
  • Children under 16 years of age

Not available:

  • Housebound Patients
